I’ve always thought that there was something magical about creating 3D graphics. At some point during the process you find that you’re dealing with more than just pixels and polygons–it’s the stuff dreams are made of, and with that comes a realization that anything is possible.

about me

I’m a 3D artist and an entrepreneur. I love learning, creating, and teaching on repeat.

artist

I have a background in traditional art as well as digital. And although I’ve spent much of my career assisting projects in areas of drawing, painting, and designing my real love within the artistic world is in the world of 3D.

My favorite type of project is one where I get to learn something new. Within all of art I’ve continually found myself gravitating to the photorealistic style, and I really do enjoy making objects in 3D that are as close to realistic looking as possible. For this reason, over my career I’ve begun niching down towards product visualization and visual effects.

My go to software of choice for general 3D creation is Blender. I’m also a Blender Foundation Certified Trainer. Other software I use during my day-to-day workflow includes: ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer, Photoshop, After Effects, Resolve/Fusion, and Unreal Engine. Recently, I’ve also started learning Houdini to take a more serious approach to developing complex visual simulations for my VFX and motion design projects as well as to round out my pipeline with a procedural workflow.

entrepreneur

I’m currently self employed with my business Indie Stock. I offer a full range of services as a 3d generalist including: design, 3d modeling, texturing, digital sculpting, rendering, animation, product visualization, and visual effects.

I’m currently working on improving my portfolio and getting hired to do more work in the games industry as a 3D environment prop artist.

In the future, I would like to find a way to bridge my love of learning, creating, and teaching into a business that allows me to help fellow artists and freelancers achieve success in their careers and gives me the opportunity to make more exciting props and scale models both digitally and in my shop at home.

Career Over the Years

2009

I graduate from John Brown University with a bachelor's degree in digital media arts emphasizing in computer animation and a minor degree in computer science.

2009-2011

I begin my career working as an animator at Steelehouse Productions (Now Xalter) in Tulsa, OK. It was during this time that I was fortunate to work on a number of exciting IPs such as G.I. Joe, My Little Pony, and Transformers.

2011-2015

I work as a production artist at Selco Time Corp. producing graphic designs for custom watch dial imprints, 3D bespoke dials and engravings.

2015-2018

I begin my first startup Indie Stock teaching 3D graphics through online courses in Blender. Along the way, Indie Stock rebrands as Blender Unleashed and then The Orange Guild before closing its doors in December of 2018.

2018-19

I begin freelancing full-time as a 3D artist under a new startup called Legacy Visuals. After a short stint, I close down to pursue my next business opportunity.

2020-2023

I begin a new startup with five partners called Grassfire. As a full-service animation studio, we provide 2D and 3D character animation, product visualization, motion design, and visual effects.

2023-Present

After leaving Grassfire, I returned to freelance work as a 3D artist. I'm currently exploring more possibilities for freelance and contract work as a 3d generalist producing product viz, archviz, animation, and scale models through 3d printing. Ultimately, I'm working toward the goal of being hired for opportunities in the games industry to produce AAA 3d environmental prop art.
